It's amazing to be a part of a group of quilters who make a difference and make connections with the recipients of our work. Below is the text of an email about one such little girl...
I am sad to inform you that __________ died this evening at 11:15. She was thirteen years old. It was a five-year struggle for her, and she fought valiantly to live. She underwent numerous treatments, some of them with very painful side effects, but she never whined or complained. That was a testimony to the value she put on living. In those five years, she also accomplished some amazing things to help others. Up until the last several days, she had periods of consciousness and would engage in conversations which revealed she still had a sense of humor. She died at home, surrounded by her family and close family friends.
